Where It Began

Philanthropy has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. My parents introduced me early to families and communities who were less fortunate, while faith and commitment to community instilled in me values of compassion, generosity, and service that remain central to my life today.
Then, in high school, a history lesson unexpectedly brought those values into focus. My teacher pulled me to the front of the classroom to speak with members of the media about famine. I didn't have the language for it then, but I remember the experience vividly. Looking back, I believe it was one of the first signs that this work would become a calling.
Over the years, my experiences in industry and volunteer service continued to shape that calling. They taught me that philanthropy is ultimately about people, their values, their generosity, and the difference they hope to make.
That perspective continues to guide my work today.
